A Versatile Approach to Building Attractive Websites

[ad_1] The Litho Multipurpose WordPress Elementor theme is a low-cost, high-value theme package that offers an abundance of options for creating great-looking WordPress websites exactly the way you want them.  Whether you’re building a brochure-style site for your new business, an eCommerce store to sell your products, or a portfolio site to showcase your creative work, the 36+ homepage designs, coupled with over 200 elements and inner-pages ensure you’ll have everything you need to really represent your brand online in a way that truly works for you.  Below, we’ll put Litho through its paces and outline what we like about it, what we think could be better, and whether this highly versatile Elementor theme is the right choice for your new website. Litho Multipurpose Elementor Theme Review  Make no mistake about it, Litho is undoubtedly one of the most affordable Elementor theme packages we’ve come across recently. At the time of writing, it was available via Theme Forest at just $29 for a standard Envato license which includes all of its features, plus access to future updates and six months of support. If you’d like to update that support even further, you can extend it to 12 months for just an extra $6.38.  This makes it very attractively priced compared to many other Elementor templates, but just because it doesn’t cost much doesn’t mean it doesn’t have much to offer.  Having tried it on one of our demo sites, we found it very easy to use, full of attractive design options which help you to stand out among a sea of all-too-similar-looking websites, and with a much-welcomed focus on high-performance so that using it doesn’t slow your site down. We’re not the only ones who think so, either.  Litho has only been around for a few short months but already boasts a Theme Forest rating of 4.75 and an impressive number of highly complimentary reviews for such a new theme.  Article Continues Below Still, don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what it’s like to actually use Litho to design a site of your own. Building Your Website With Litho  After installing and activating both the main theme and the all-important child theme, you’ll first be asked for all of the requisite plugins you’ll need to make the most out of Litho.  These include:  Other tools such as WooCommerce can also be installed at this stage, but honestly, this is only really necessary if you’re going to be building an eCommerce site. Even without that, the addition of these plugins ensures Litho provides even greater value for money as Slider Revolution on its own typically costs around $85.  Litho Demo Import With the plugin installed, your next step is to install the demo content.  Even this relatively small and often overlooked feature of theme installation is handled very well by Litho. If you want access to all of the content options, you can go ahead and simply choose the Full Import option, which will import everything that Litho has to offer. However, if you’re familiar with WordPress themes, you’ll no doubt know that these themes can often import far more templates and other content than you could even possibly use, all of which archives nothing more than leaving your site bloated, heavy, and cluttered. If you’d rather avoid that, Litho gives you the freedom to choose the individual import option and only upload those assets that you really want to use.  WooCommerce Integration If you are using WooCommerce to start your own online store, Litho also offers a handy wizard which makes light work out of setting up and configuring the theme and the WooCommerce platform to work in sync.  After using the wizard, you’ll find a selection of eCommerce themes that you can activate at the click of a button, meaning you’ve got a ready-made store up and running in moments.  From there, you’ll find even more to like. The product galleries are very well designed to showcase your wares in the best possible light. Meanwhile, detailed filtering options and a modern mini-cart also help to enhance your customers’ experience, ultimately improving sales and repeat visits in the process. Litho Theme Options  Once everything is important, installed, and ready to go, you can head to the standard WordPress customizer by selecting Appearance – Customize from the main WordPress dashboard menu and begin tweaking the main options for your site. The first task you’ll want to take care of is heading to the Homepage Settings options, where you can choose one of the countless page designs to serve as the main page for your website.  Elsewhere, you’ll also find all of the usual customizer options along with theme options that are unique to Litho.  These include: Custom 404 pages Custom sidebars Image metadata Side icons Social sharing options Title wrappers Plus the option to configure settings for: GDPR Search page Scroll to top and more. Editing Your Litho template with Elementor  Even more than the multiple templates and design elements, the one thing we like best about Litho is that it’s built specifically to be edited with the Elementor site builder.  Since Elementor itself is such a powerful and yet easy-to-use page builder, it means all you have to do to really take control of the look and feel of your website is to select the Edit With Elementor  option for each page, click on the element you want to customize, and use the simple graphical interface to change it to your liking. Of course, if you decide to start from scratch, Elementor makes that easy too.  There are an endless array of elements to choose from, including everything from animations, alert boxes, buttons, and calls to action to FAQs, forms, testimonial boxes, maps, and much more, all of which can be customized and combined in an infinite number of ways to create a true one-of-a-kind site. Section Builder  Another great thing about Litho is that it takes this one step further by including a custom section builder.

Google Site Kit Plugin Ships Hot Fix for Critical Error That Caused Broken Websites – WP Tavern

[ad_1] Google published an update to its Site Kit plugin for WordPress this afternoon with a hot fix for a critical issue affecting an unknown number of users. Reports of broken websites were popping up on Twitter and in the plugin’s support forum on WordPress.org. Users affected by the issue reported having a critical error on all sites using Site Kit, which forced deactivation of the plugin in recovery mode. In some cases it prevented them from accessing their dashboards. “On Wednesday, August 11, we identified a fatal error in the Site Kit plugin that could be triggered by other plugins or themes using an unprefixed version of Composer,” Google Site Kit Support Lead Bethany Chobanian Lang said in a pinned post on the support forum. Version 1.38.1 contains a hot fix for this issue, since it was critical enough to take down users’ websites. The plugin’s maintainers began investigating the issue less than 24 hours ago but are still not sure which plugins trigger the error due to their usage of Composer. “The reports do not include which specific plugins or themes were causing this, but the error message clearly highlighted the code in Site Kit that was the problem,” Google Developer Relations Engineer Felix Arntz said. “Technically, that problematic code had been in Site Kit since several versions ago (months back), so maybe another plugin/theme recently got updated with new code that exposed the problem.” After looking at popular plugins, Arntz said he hasn’t been able to find one so far that would have triggered the problem. Given Site Kit’s broad usage, other affected sites are bound to turn up once users realize there is a problem. Google launched the plugin in 2019 and has since amassed more than a million active installations. The majority of the plugin’s user base is running older versions, which may or may not be affected by the current issue. WordPress.org shows 35.6% of the plugin’s users are on version 1.38.x. The hot fix is not backported for older releases, but users running Site Kit version 1.38 with background updates enabled should automatically receive the fix. Colorado Becomes First State to Require State and Local Government Websites to Meet Accessibility Standards – WP Tavern

[ad_1] Today marks the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a civil rights law passed in 1990 that prohibits discrimination against people with physical or mental impairments that substantially limit a major life activity. The legislation continues to help disabled people gain equal access to employment, schools, transportation, government services, and public accommodations. In a speech at the Rose Garden today, President Joe Biden announced guidance that would extend the ADA protections to COVID-19 long haulers who experience lingering symptoms that qualify as a disability. “We’re bringing agencies together to make sure Americans with long COVID who have a disability have access to the rights and resources that are due under the disability law,” he said. “Which includes accommodations and services in the workplace and school, and our health care system, so they can live their lives in dignity and get the support they need as they continue to navigate these challenges.” The Biden administration is continuing its commitment to accessibility which was first declared publicly on WhiteHouse.gov. When Biden took office, the site relaunched on WordPress with an accessibility statement, highlighting its ongoing accessibility efforts towards conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA criteria. Last week, Colorado became the first US state to require state and local government websites to meet accessibility standards as established by the state’s Chief Information Officer. The bill states that the accessibility standards are to be identified using “the most recent web content accessibility guidelines promulgated and published by the world wide web consortium web accessibility initiative or the international accessibility guidelines working group.” Each state agency in Colorado is required to submit an accessibility plan to the office before July 1, 2022. The office will review the plan and work collaboratively to set an implementation methodology. State agencies are required to fully implement the plan before July 1, 2024. Any agency not in full compliance will be considered in violation of laws that prevent discrimination against individuals with a disability. The bill also makes it easier for an individual with a disability to bring a civil suit against noncompliant agencies and the agency’s $3,500 statutory fine would be payable to the plaintiff. “This bill will give our local governments the resources to make sure they’re complying with the ADA,” Julie Reiskin, Executive Director of the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, told Colorado Public Radio. “Particularly after the year we just had. People who were blind couldn’t sign up for vaccines, get information online, sign language interpreters weren’t widely available. Failing to fund this says people with disabilities don’t matter.” WordPress web developers responsible for Colorado state or local websites should be ready to deliver accessible websites on the timeline laid out in the bill. It applies to any department, agency, special district, or other instrumentality. All of the state agency websites are currently running on Drupal 7, but the state has more than 4,268 active local governments. Many of them use WordPress and those responsible for these local sites will need to begin the process of creating a plan to ensure they are accessible before July 1, 2024. 16 Examples of Awesome Websites Built with Divi (2021)

[ad_1] Divi, by Elegant Themes, is one of the most popular web-building frameworks right now. It has been used on over 2 million websites worldwide. Divi comes in two flavors: It’s either a WordPress theme or a page builder. While the theme gives a website its appearance, the builder provides you with the tools to create content with its various on-page elements. This blog post lists websites using Divi. Since Divi is such a versatile product, you can build any website with it, including one-page websites, multi-page websites, blogs, landing pages, or online stores. So let’s start exploring and see Divi in action. Huntington YMCA’s primary goal is to strengthen communities by focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The content uses the entire width of the page and includes rounded images and bright colors. You’ll also notice a sticky navigation bar that stays put at the top, even when you scroll down the page. The page is easy to navigate and fast to download. Does your roof need a renewal?  If you live anywhere near the Ironton, Huntington, and Ashland Tri-State area, then consider Thoroughbred Construction Group for the job. Right after you have loaded the home page, you clearly see what the company is all about and what they promise to you. Right after this text, you notice the call to action (CTA) buttons, so you can get an estimate of the repair or call them. Thoroughbred uses sticky navigation on their site, making navigation between different parts of the website simple. Naxian Wave Orkos offers accommodation in Drymalia, which is part of the Greek island Naxos. The main menu sits at the top of the page. You can find a Book Now button to the left of the navigation, which takes you to their reservation system. There, you can view their apartments in more detail. The overall theme of the pages is white, just like the buildings located on Drymalia. The pages show big images of the available rooms. You can find the contact information and customer testimonials, too. Would you like to play golf?  If you are in the Rochester area in New York, you could head out to the Timber Ridge Golf Club. The home page opens with a full-width picture of one of the holes in the course. You can click the Book a Tee Time button in the middle of the page to reserve your spot on the golf course. The home page also features helpful information regarding the course, including the contact information, customer reviews, and an introduction to their facilities. When you scroll down any of the pages, you’ll notice smooth animation effects on images.  At the end of the page, you find a footer area. It includes the navigation, combined with the contact information and links to social media profiles. LOCAMAT is a Togo-based company in West Africa. It offers heavy lifting, handling, and truck services in Togo, Burkina Faso, Benin, and Ghana. The front page of the website contains a full-width animation, where the company shows its services. On the home page, you can also read more about the types of services they offer. When you scroll down the page, you’ll find customer testimonials and information on contacting them. You can quickly jump from page to page by using the sticky navigation at the top.  In the footer area, you can join their email list by entering your name and email. The company’s brand color is red, and this same color is dominant on their pages, too. When you enter the White Gorilla, you see a page-wide image of a desktop. In the middle of this area, you learn that the company creates websites, web apps, and digital experiences. Next, you’ll notice a black button that says “Start a Project.” White Gorilla’s website is an example of a one-page website. The header area contains sticky navigation. Clicking on any of the items on the menu makes you jump to a specific part of the page. The overall color scheme is black and white. The exception to this rule is the works area, which features their previous projects with full-color images. Trafoos is an online store that sells unique designs on products like t-shirts, mugs, or posters. If you don’t find the design you are looking for, you can also create your own. You can start shopping or creating your custom products by clicking on the appropriate buttons at the top of the page. When you scroll down the home page a bit, you’ll also find all their shopping categories and featured products. In the footer area, there is an opt-in form. When you join the email list, you’ll receive exclusive designs and discounts. This website presents the realtors named the Langhirt Crew. They are real estate agents located in Columbus, Ohio. The home page displays a looping video, showing all the various happy experiences and memories a home can have.  When you scroll down the page a bit, you find an introduction to their team, followed by the featured property and client testimonials.  You can find the company’s contact information in the footer and links to social media profiles, too. Next to the CTA, you can also find a phone number if you’d like to call them instead. The home page gives you all the essential information about the company and the services they offer. The footer area provides the contact information, with a map on how to reach them in Brno. Alive offers various services, like IT or employee-related,
