Texas Ranks Among America’s Least Healthy States

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have a problem here in Texas. It appears our lifestyle in the Lone Star State could use some improvement. Then again, that’s easier said than done.

Where Texas Landed in the National Health Rankings

You see, a recent report by Axios revealed the most and least healthy states, and you can probably guess exactly where I’m going with this. Texas ranked toward the bottom of the list, coming in at number 40. Yes, the Lone Star State is among the 10 unhealthiest states in the U.S.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not here to pass judgment or preach to anyone, because Lord knows I could afford to lead a much healthier lifestyle. I’m merely passing the information along. The way I see it, if one person reads this and decides to make some lifestyle changes for the better, then it was worth my time.

Why Texas Scored So Poorly Overall

Texas ranks among the least healthy states due to two key factors. First, (and I used to be guilty of this), many Texans don’t like to go to the doctor. The study found that 17% of Texas adults avoid doctor visits due to the cost. Second, the Lone Star State ranks last in the nation when it comes to health care providers per 100,000 people.
