Fuel Transport Unveils AI Transport Optimization Initiative

Fuel Transport, a Montreal-based logistics and transportation company, is rolling out Transport Optimization, an US$8 million AI  initiative aimed at embedding AI directly into core logistics workflows across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

“At Fuel, we believe true progress happens when intelligent technology works hand in hand with human instinct. We are proud to collaborate with partners who share this vision and have been instrumental in bringing Transport Optimization to life. With this initiative, we are not only elevating operational efficiency, but also redefining what it means to lead with insight, agility, and responsibility in the logistics sector,” says Robert Piccioni, CEO, Fuel Transport.

Developed in collaboration with Scale AI, Vooban, CRIM, Geloso Group, and Les Camions Fuel, the program is designed to strengthen how Fuel Transport prices freight, generates quotes, and selects carriers, areas where speed, consistency, and margin discipline can determine service quality and competitiveness.

At the heart of Transport Optimization are four interoperable modules intended to connect internal and external data sources, enabling faster decisions and more standardized execution across the company’s network:

  • Dynamic Pricing and Quote Management Assistant: Generates competitive, profitable rates using real-time data and shifting market dynamics, helping teams respond faster while protecting margin.

  • Carrier Recommendation System: Applies AI to recommend optimal carrier partners based on criteria such as performance, reliability, cost, and customer requirements, while maintaining compliance guardrails.

  • SOP Management Systems: Centralizes and standardizes standard operating procedures to improve traceability, compliance, and operational transparency across offices and teams.

  • Employee Assistant: A conversational, natural-language interface that allows staff to query and take action in internal systems more efficiently, reducing friction in daily operations.

Fuel framed the initiative as a practical step toward “operationalizing” AI, not as an experimental add-on, but as a set of tools designed to be used in the flow of day-to-day transportation management.

“Collaborating with a leader like Fuel Transport in building AI systems that both optimize operations and strengthen decision-making across North America’s transport networks is an honor for Vooban, as it reflects our shared commitment to shaping the future of intelligent logistics,” says Hugues Foltz, Executive Vice President, Vooban.

Fuel Transport says the initiative is intended to “pioneer the next generation of AI-driven transport logistics,” with an emphasis on predictive intelligence and adaptive decision-making. In practical terms, that signals a roadmap beyond basic automation, toward systems that anticipate market changes, recommend actions proactively, and help teams manage exceptions more effectively.
