Be prepared for lane closures, prohibited turns and delays at the southern end of George Washington Way today, Nov. 12.
Richland city officials announced the “significant traffic impacts” as part of the ongoing South George Washington Way Intersection Project. The work is necessary so new traffic signaling infrastructure can be installed.
During the day between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the following traffic restrictions will be in place:
- Northbound George Washington Way left-turn lane onto Aaron/Adams will be closed.
- Inside southbound lane of George Washington Way will be closed to accommodate removal and replacement of the dual-faced traffic curbing south of the intersection.
- Aaron Drive will remain open, as will the southbound left turn onto Columbia Point Drive.
- Columbia Point Drive westbound onto GWW will be reduced to one lane.
- Comstock Street to Goethals Drive will serve as the Aaron Drive detour.
Late this evening into the early morning of Nov. 13, traffic will be controlled by flaggers so that the arms of the new traffic signals can be installed.
