Recent newcomer to Tri-City restaurant scene moving out

The Pasco location of a Yakima Valley restaurateur serving up south of the border and Southern California favorites has closed after eight months in the Tri-Cities.

Javi’s Chicken and Churros made the announcement on its social media on Nov. 5. Its owners said in the post that they will sell or lease the restaurant at 1520 N. Fourth Ave. They bought it Dec. 29, 2024.

“We tried to hold on as long as possible but there’s been a number of things that have happened that’s just made things worse,” the post read. “We are not the only ones feeling the pressure many other small businesses are also suffering and are finding it hard to hold on.”

A graphic associated with the post also said, “This economy, combined with ICE raids and the government shutdown, has made things worse.”

Owners Francisco and Laura Gonzalez of Sunnyside, operate two other restaurants under the same name in Grandview and Sunnyside. The Pasco location opened in early 2025, replacing the former Chinese restaurant that once occupied the building and was the longest-running restaurant in Pasco.

The Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business profiled the business in January 2024.
