The letter, which has been seen by Hodinkee, confirms speculation that started over the weekend on Instagram, showing White House pictures of a table clock on the desk of the U.S. president that appears to be in the style of a Datejust, with a fluted, gold colored bezel, a green dial, and a cyclops to magnify a date complication. This, to the best of our knowledge, is not a commercially available product, but many have associated its existence with that of the recent Submariner Desk Clock. “With its timeless design and craftsmanship, we hope this clock may serve as a small reminder of the fruitful exchanges and mutual respect between Switzerland and the United States,” the Swiss executives say in the letter. Rolex declined to comment.
