Viral AFTV star Ty throttled by football steward in ugly altercation following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Sunderland

Taiwo Ogunlabi, the viral AFTV star known as Ty, was involved in an ugly altercation with a steward following Arsenal‘s 2-2 draw away at Sunderland on Saturday.

The Gunners fan, known for his overly optimistic takes on his beloved club, appeared agitated during an exchange with Black Cats supporters and was forcibly held back by a steward during tense scenes.

Video footage of the incident shows the steward clutching the Arsenal fan near the throat as he forced him away from opposing fans.

Launched in 2013, AFTV – formerly known as Arsenal Fan TV before the club asked the YouTube channel to change its name – has become an internet sensation due to the often over-the-top reactions from passionatesupporters during what has been a difficult period for the club.

Ty, who is a staunch defender of the club and often sees the positives even following the most turgid performances, is best known for once blaming the rain for a defeat against Watford

It was a rare off night for the Gunners, with their imperious defence breached twice by the plucky Premier League newcomers. A late strike from Brian Brobbey saw the hosts walk away with a deserved point.

And the scenes turned ugly in the aftermath as Ty was throttled by a steward and seemingly forced out of the stadium concourse.

Ty shouts as the steward forces him out onto the street, before another man comes over and attempts to pull the supporter away from any conflict.

It is unclear what sparked the altercation, and whether the steward was employed by the home side or the travelling outfit. Sometimes away clubs take their own stewards.

Arsenal fans watched in disbelief as their winning run of 10 games on the bounce was shattered by Regis Le Bris’ upstart promoted side.

Sunderland took the lead after 36 minutes thanks to a barnstorming strike by Dan Ballard which caused a volcanic reaction in the stands at the Stadium of Light.

But Arsenal turned the game on its head in the second half as they finally made the most of their domination of the ball.

First, Bukayo Saka punished Sunderland with a powerful strike past Robin Roefs after Enzo Le Fee was caught napping in his own third.

Then, Leandro Trossard fired a bullet into the near top corner from outside the area to give the visitors the lead.

That looked to be the winning goal until the 94th minute, when substitute Brobbey had other ideas.

Brobbey squeezed a remarkably acrobatic shot past David Raya after fending off Gabriel to meet a header flicked on by Ballard.

Cue bedlam in the north east as Sunderland secured a point to go third in the Premier League, though they have since dropped to fourth after Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Wolves.
