FLORENCE, Wis. — Natalie and Dan Vincent of The Vincent Creations will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to introduce the public to their unique business.

They micro-manufacture covers for headgear and masks for continuous positive airway pressure, or CPAP, machines commonly used to treat sleep apnea.

“We originally started in 2018 making little bags and purses, fun little crafts. Then one of my friends asked if I could make a CPAP cover because she was having a hard time finding them,” Natalie said. “We thought, if she wanted one, maybe others would too, so we put them on our Etsy shop and they started to take off.”

They’ve seen particularly strong demand for mask covers, Dan said. “That’s a big seller right now, because that’s where the irritation starts,” he explained.

Many people who use CPAP machines suffer from skin irritation and problems with hair loss because the straps pull on their hair. And more and more people are using CPAP machines.

“I can help a lot more people, helping them save their hair and giving them back their self-esteem,” Natalie said.

Originally the covers were made of flannel, but now they offer them in other fabrics such silk and satin. They create covers for about 20 different types of headgear and will do custom orders by request. They ship worldwide.

Natalie often orders the headgear so she can make the covers fit correctly.

She creates all the designs and does the sewing. Dan helps with production such as cutting fabric and patterns. “I’m the grunt,” he said.

They are branching out into covers for other medical equipment as well, such as oxygen bags. They also plan to have some of their other items for sale at the shop.

“We’re kind of going into the medical field,” Dan said.

They moved into their shop at 140 Florence Ave. in September.

“We had totally outgrown our home,” she said. They have one employee and are looking for additional help.

Natalie received her first sewing machine at age 5 and now their 10-year-old daughter, Autumn, has caught the sewing bug.

The open house will feature refreshments from Merrill’s Coffee and Bistro and food from Michaela May’s Bakery.

They expressed appreciation to the Florence Economic Development Corporation and the bank for their assistance.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment. Their website is thevincentcreations.com and they also have a shop on Etsy. The phone number is 715-889-5281.
