- Dunkin’ launched a winter menu with five new high-protein drinks, offering 15 grams per medium serving.
- New items include protein lattes, matcha and Megan Thee Stallion’s refresher.
- Drinks may be high in added sugar, so moderation is key; sugar-free vanilla is a lighter choice.
Looking to add more protein to your morning routine? If so, Dunkin’s new winter menu might pique your interest. The breakfast chain’s brand-new winter menu features high-protein drinks suitable for most palates.
Fresh on the menu, Dunkin’ just launched five new specialty drinks featuring their new “protein milk,” which is ultrafiltered milk that promises to add 15 grams of protein per medium serving in each drink. This includes coffee-based drinks like the new Caramel Chocolate Iced Protein Latte and Iced Protein Latte with Sugar-Free Vanilla, but it also includes the new Almond Iced Protein Matcha Latte.
And it goes beyond coffees and matcha, because Dunkin’ is sprucing up the protein drink market with high-protein refreshers as well. This includes Strawberry Protein Refresher—a protein-rich, creamier take on their fan-favorite Strawberry Dragonfruit Refresher—as well as Megan’s Mango Protein Refresher. If you’re wondering “who’s Megan?” wonder no more: Megan Thee Stallion is teaming up with Dunkin’ for their new protein launch, and her own tropical creation has made the lineup.
“Whether you’re drinking it to boost your fitness routine or just to power through a busy day, it’s the perfect drink for any occasion,” the rapper and songwriter shared in a press release from the brand.
Before you scurry to Dunkin’ to try one of these high-protein creations, be cautious of the other nutrition information highlighted in these drinks. Dunkin’s lattes and refreshers can be high in added sugar, and sugar-sweetened beverages are a top source of added sugar in the average American’s diet. Eating too much added sugar can be damaging to your body in the long term, especially your brain, heart, liver, gut and skin over time.
The Iced Protein Latte with Sugar-Free Vanilla might be a good place to start if you’re looking for a more regular sip. But if you want to try one of the other protein bevs, we’re not stopping you. It’s important to remember that all foods and drinks can be included in a healthy eating pattern, but moderation is key.
Protein milk aside, there are some more new menu items at Dunkin’ without the protein upgrade. Caramel Chocolate Shakin’ Espresso, Cocoa Cloud Latte and a Berry Moonlight Daydream Refresher have also made their way onto the menu this winter, and for doughnut enthusiasts, the brand-new Golden Chocolate Donut might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
