OKMULGEE, Okla. — A local businessman said he is seeking justice and wants his property back after thieves stole $10,000 worth of equipment from him early Friday morning.
Within the last 48 hours, businessman John Morris said he has been hard at work scouring through the video to find who stole from him.
Morris said this theft isn’t a one-time thing; there have been multiple occurrences of malicious activity.
“People sticking stuff in the sidewalls of my service van tires and chipping my windshields and busting out my headlights and stuff like that,” said Morris.
He said there’s been two separate incidents on his storage and docking property in Okmulgee. They happened on November 9 and December 11.
“I literally have two people outside my house and shop just walking around under my bay, on my porch, walking through my scrap yard with the barrels and used units and stuff like that,” said Morris. “Just taking stuff and loading it up on my 16-foot trailer that we used to haul off scrap. Around 4:38 a.m., a pickup truck backs up to the…trailer and takes off with all the stuff that they had loaded, along with my trailer.”
Morris said he’s worried something more suspicious could be at play.
“There’s also concern for…intentions of racketeering — basically doing malicious things to my property to push me out of business,” said Morris. “I get a lot of offers recently. I’ve been in business for 20 years and I’ve never received a lot of offers to buy my business, and I don’t know why anyone would. We’re affiliate members with ACCA and building performance institutes, so what we do is very good work and we don’t rely heavily upon previous customers for future business.”
Morris said he hopes justice will prevail.
“I’m not going to stop until…I know who [these people] are and make sure that they don’t ever do it again to someone else,” said Morris.
Morris said he has filed a police report with the Okmulgee Police Department.
FOX23 reached out to the department for a statement, and we’re waiting to hear back.
