Mint Innovation expects to begin the first phase of remodeling at the first of the year for its new Longview facility.

The e-waste recycling company, which has headquarters  in New Zealand, will locate inside an existing building at 2120 E. Loop 281. The building is more than 17,000 square feet, but the first phase of work will involve 1,570 square feet of space, according to a report filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The $1.6-million project will involve remodeling an area “for dedicated laboratory space associated with printed circuit board recycling.” The report says the work is expected to be done by Oct. 1.

Spring Hill welcomes Chinese food restaurant

Tango Mango is now serving Chinese food at 4401 Gilmer Road in Longview’s Spring Hill area.

Owners Ricky, Aaron and Eric Tang renovated a former Dairy Queen for the news restaurant.

The Tango Mango menu includes some favorites from the menu of the Peking restaurant in Nacogdoches along with 12 kinds of rice bowls, including shrimp and chicken fried rice. The menu also features authentic Taiwanese shaved ice.  The icy treats are made with condensed milk, fresh fruit, ice cream and toppings.

The restaurant is also known for its smoothies and teas.

Hours are 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Dreaming Peddler celebrates expansion

The Dreaming Peddler is wrapping up its grand reopening this weekend in its new space at 100 Tall Pines Ave. in Longview. The location is near the AMC Longview 10 and Longview Mall.

“It’s a big expansion for us,” said Jason Robbins. He and his wife, Mimi, first opened the store in 2020 on Evergreen Street in the Pine Tree area. Since then, they’ve added two more members to their family: sons Charlie, 3, and River, 1.

“It was a popular spot,” Mimi said of the first location. “Now we’re branching off and doing more of what we did before.”

The store is an eclectic mix of gemstones, fossils, meteorites, curiosities, jewelry, bath and body products, essential oils, books, children’s toys and other “hard to find gifts.” Their mascot is a cartoonish frog featured throughout the store.

The store includes a space people can reserve called “Robbins Cove,” a pirate-themed seating area that can be isolated from the rest of the store by a curtain. People can play games there and enjoy candies or drinks from “The Little Lantern Sweet & Treats.” People who reserve that area also can participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the store to find a secret prize.

The store features several pieces of gaff taxidermy – animals made out of drift wood – that add to the fun. A large gorilla made from driftwood at the front of the store is dressed as Santa Claus, and Robbins Cove features a gator-catfish and a gator-duck also made from driftwood.

Books, children’s toys and a stage for performances and educational presentations are part of the store as well.

Jason also has launched Dreaming Peddler’s Wellness inside the store, which includes teas, essential oils and essential oil blends.

The re-grand opening event wraps up today, Dec. 6, with the following events:

1-3 p.m.: Meet-and-greet and photos with Santa Flavious; families may take their own photos for $5 each; Santa Flavious’ free musical performance and presentation of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”

3 p.m.: Coffee tasting with local roaster WoWo Joe Coffee Co.

3:30 p.m.: Live acoustic performance by local artist Maryah McHam.
