Both benches and bullpens cleared in Game 7 of the World Series as tempers flared between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.
In the fourth inning of Saturday’s decider at the Rogers Centre, a brief melee broke out after Blue Jays star Andres Gimenez was hit on the hand by a fast-ball from Dodgers pitcher Justin Wrobleski.
Gimenez immediately made his frustration known with the pitch, leaving Wrobleski bemused as the pair appeared to become embroiled in a foul-mouthed argument.
And when they began trading insults, the Toronto and Los Angeles Dodgers benches immediately cleared in a moment of chaos on baseball’s biggest night of the season.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider was seen sprinting onto the field to defuse the situation, with Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas also seen losing his cool as opposition players and World Series umpires desperately tried to hold him back.
Warnings were issued for both teams after the bench-clearing skirmish before the fourth inning resumed with the home team leading 3-1 in Canada.
