The Decorah Area Chamber has curated a list of opportunities in which residents and visitors may partake during the third annual Wellness Weekend Nov. 7-9.
“On the heels of Halloween and with the shift for daylight savings, we are moving into a time of shorter days and concerns of winter illness,” says Chamber Director Jessica Rilling, “The Chamber’s Wellness Weekend is about celebrating how blessed we are with access to healthcare providers, wellness professionals, opportunities for physical activity and small businesses to support mind, body and spirit. Our residents lead healthier and happier lives because we have so many choices here and this dynamic wellness portfolio remains a top community characteristic for businesses doing workforce recruitment.”
All businesses and organizations are encouraged to host or share a wellness activity, product or service during the thematic weekend. Members of the public are encouraged to participate at any level which is right for them — from scheduling an appointment with a provider or supporting a local eatery which serves heart-healthy meals to taking a hike on one of Decorah’s park trails or purchasing items at a small business which supports self care.
The weekend’s largest event will be Friday, Nov. 7, the Winneshiek County Celebration of Life’s annual fundraiser at the Hotel Winneshiek. The nonprofit raises money for cancer awareness and prevention.
