Milan Bergamo Airport has opened a new and expanded security area as well as an enlarged duty free area. The airport is also introducing new gates and other improvements ahead of the 2026 summer season.
The new security screening area, covering 3,500 square metres, is designed to deliver faster, smoother and more intuitive processes for travellers. The facility is equipped with fourteen security lanes featuring modern CT scanners that allows passengers to leave liquids and electronic devices inside their bags.
The new security zone benefits from abundant natural light thanks to its architectural design, reducing the need for artificial lighting.
Giacomo Cattaneo, Director of Commercial Aviation at SACBO, said: “With this expansion, we are offering our passengers one of the most advanced and passenger-friendly security systems in Europe. The combination of cutting-edge technology, intelligent passenger flow management and a bright, spacious environment represents a major step forward in comfort, efficiency and sustainability at Milan Bergamo Airport.”
