Concanaco Reports Preliminary Results for El Buen Fin 2025

The Trade, Services, and Tourism National Chamber Confederation (Concanaco-Servytur) released preliminary results for the 2025 edition of El Buen Fin, reporting strong participation and higher sales across formal commerce, local businesses, and tourism sectors. Data collected from participating businesses nationwide between Nov. 13 and Nov. 17 shows 71% of respondents rated this year’s edition as “good” or “excellent,” supporting the program’s impact on sales, jobs and responsible consumption.

Octavio de la Torre, President, Concanaco-Servytur, said the program strengthens the local economy by supporting family-owned businesses, formal commerce and community-based enterprises.

Results show 41% of businesses completed registration on the official platform, while 37% participated without completing the formal registration process. Retail accounted for 68% of total activity, followed by tourism and services sectors with an additional 12%, largely driven by local and family-owned businesses.

States with the highest registration levels were Veracruz, Tamaulipas, the State of Mexico and Mexico City, which together represented more than 54% of completed registrations. States including Queretaro, Campeche, Nayarit and San Luis Potosi showed steady participation.

Local businesses and family enterprises represented 36% of total participation. About 78% of companies reported sales increases between 10% and more than 30%, while only 6% reported no growth. To meet demand, 37% hired temporary staff, with 96% of those jobs classified as short-term positions providing supplemental income to families.

Consumer Behavior and Transactions

The survey found that 79% of purchases were made with debit or credit cards, supporting secure and formal transactions. Physical stores accounted for 62% of total purchases, directly benefiting local commerce. Meanwhile, 31% of participating businesses offered interest-free installment plans, and 56% provided direct discounts.

Forty percent of respondents reported average transaction values above MX$5,000. Social media played a key role in marketing for 49% of businesses, while 44% reported increased institutional support.

More than 70% of sales focused on major categories including appliances, electronics, apparel, footwear and furniture. Demand also increased for travel, gifts and mobile devices. Within the tourism sector, 41% of businesses reported higher foot traffic and improved service levels, including hotels, restaurants, and travel agencies. Additionally, 79% of businesses said extending the event by an extra day would be beneficial, prompting further analysis and coordination with authorities and industry stakeholders.

Concanaco-Servytur represents more than 4.5 million economic units nationwide, most of them family-owned and local businesses. The organization will deliver a final consolidated report to the Ministry of Economy and participating institutions.

El Buen Fin Projections

MBN reported that the fifteenth annual edition of El Buen Fin, Mexico’s national discount shopping event held from Nov. 13 to Nov. 17, is projected to reach record sales, with Mexico City alone expecting a historic economic spillover of MX$65 billion. Concanaco-Servytur expected sales to grow 31.9% compared to last year, with the capital accounting for 32.7% of national sales.

Consumption patterns continue to evolve, with digital channels playing an increasingly central role. The Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO) estimated that seven out of 10 consumers would use a mix of physical and online channels for their purchases. Payments were expected to rely primarily on credit cards, debit cards, and department store cards. This year’s edition also aligned with the government’s Plan México, aimed at strengthening household finances and promoting shared prosperity.
