Wizz to introduce premium ‘Wizz Class’ product

European Low-Cost Carrier Wizz Air is to trial the introduction of a premium seating product.

Known as ‘Wizz Class’, the proposition will include priority boarding, and a carry-on bag that can be stowed in the overhead locker. Crucially, it will also allow customers to book either a window or an aisle seat with the middle seat unoccupied to allow for more elbow room.

Since restarting after the pandemic, LCCs the world over have moved away from the ‘pure play’ low-cost model and into something more akin to what the legacy carriers offer. By simply blanking off the middle seat, Wizz escapes the need to refit aircraft into a two-class layout, and can revert to traditional operations where necessary.

“We are set to begin trialling the introduction of “WIZZ Class”, a new format designed to meet the demand of WIZZ travellers seeking more space, comfort and a quicker exit from the aircraft”, said Silvia Mosquera, Commercial Officer at Wizz Air.

“The roll-out of WIZZ Class follows feedback from our growing number of business travellers who value low-cost travel options and prefer additional space during the flight”.

Testing will start in December across five European bases: Bucharest, Budapest, London, Rome, and Warsaw.
