Geely México confirmed the arrival of the EX5 EM-i 2026, a plug-in hybrid SUV capable of running on both gasoline and electric power, offering a combined output of 259 hp. According to the company, the vehicle’s total range exceeds 1,000 km, enabling travel from Mexico City to Monterrey without stopping for fuel or charging.
The EX5 EM-i features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 98 hp and 93 lb-ft of torque, paired with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor generating 214 hp and 193 lb-ft of torque. Together, the system delivers 259 hp, with an electric-only range of 105 km. Drivers can choose among three modes—Pure, Hybrid, and Power—depending on preferences for efficiency, balanced performance, or maximum output.
Geely emphasized safety as a core feature. The SUV includes front, side, and curtain airbags, ventilated disc brakes, ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, and emergency brake assist. Stability is supported through electronic stability control (ESC), anti-rollover prevention (ARP), and hill-start assist. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and assist, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and autonomous emergency braking.
Inside, the EX5 EM-i features a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, a 15.4-inch HD central display, a Flyme Sound system with 16 speakers, wireless charging, and multiple USB ports. Ambient LED lighting and a Head-Up Display enhance the cabin, while a 540-degree camera system aids urban and highway maneuvering.
“By combining an electric motor with a gasoline engine, the EX5 EM-i offers uninterrupted long-distance travel while integrating advanced technology and safety features for drivers and passengers,” Geely México stated.
