Bloomsburg, Pa. — A Bloomsburg man showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s workplace and made violent threats during an early morning confrontation in July.
South Centre Police Chief Bill Richendrfer said Lee Atkinson Jr., 43, of Bloomsburg, came to Bloomsburg Carpet on Columbia Boulevard around 6 a.m. on July 16.
Police say Atkinson tried to force his way into the locked business to confront his former girlfriend.
The woman told police that Atkinson threatened her with “bodily injury and death,” saying he would “burn all of her belongings and her residence,” according to the affidavit of probable cause. She said Atkinson also made threats involving her mother, with whom she lives in Bloomsburg.
Employees who witnessed the altercation reportedly intervened and told Atkinson to leave the property. Police say he initially refused and became confrontational before eventually fleeing.
The alleged victim told police she was in fear for her safety and that of her mother, noting Atkinson still had some of her property at his residence in Berwick.
Atkinson was charged with making terroristic threats and harassment. A preliminary hearing was held at Magisterial District Judge Brenda Hess Williams’ office and all charges were sent on to county court.
