Fans won't see McGregor (pictured) compete in the UFC any time soon because the 34-year-old isn't currently part of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency testing pool. All athletes have to spend six months in the program before they can compete in the octagon

‘I told you I’d be back,’ McGregor said. ‘Wakey, wakey.’

Fans were divided over what the Irish superstar meant by the post, but their chances of seeing him in the UFC any time soon aren’t good because the 34-year-old isn’t currently part of U.S. Anti-Doping Agency testing pool.

All athletes have to spend six months in the program before they can compete in the octagon.

On Tuesday, the former two-division champion retweeted a video clip of the top-earning Irish movie stars – including the likes of Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell and Michael Fassbender.

Alongside the video, McGregor posted: ‘I fancy my chances topping this list in record time. If the top gross off Liam’s films is $113m, as amazing as that is, my ‘Roadhouse’ trebles it. And more. I reckon half a billion all in. And I be chillin back with the calculator rockin alligator. ‘What can I do ya’s for?’

McGregor has taken up residence recently in the Dominican Republic while filming the reboot of 1980s classic Road House with Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal.

Shooting commenced in August and the Amazon Prime-produced movie is set to be released in early 2023.

McGregor has beefed up in recent months for his movie debut and boasted that he now weighs 190lb (86kg), which is extraordinary as the megastar made his name as a featherweight in the UFC, with a limit of 145lb (65.8kg).

‘Notorious’ has continued to tease a return to action when he recovers from the broken leg he suffered fighting Dustin Poirier in 2021 – though there’s been no actual timeline for his next bout.
