Tottenham ‘considering £60m move for Anthony Gordon’ in January… with Chelsea ‘dropping OUT of the race to sign the 21-year-old’ after being rebuffed by the Merseyside club in the summer window

  • Tottenham are ‘considering £60m move’ for Everton winger Anthony Gordon
  • The 21-year-old had previously been linked with a summer move to Chelsea
  • However, the Blues are ‘not thought to be keen’ on a new approach for Gordon
  • Spurs reportedly want to ‘add another creative player’ to their forward line

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be ‘considering a £60m move for Anthony Gordon’ in January in an attempt to bolster their attack.

Gordon was linked with a summer move to Chelsea earlier in the year – however the transfer didn’t take place.

According to reports, Tottenham are ready to use Chelsea‘s failure in the summer as an opportunity to pounce – with the Blues reportedly no longer interested.

The 21-year-old has been a bright spark for Everton so far this season – scoring three of the Toffees’ 11 goals this campaign.

However, it is not just Gordon’s output which has attracted the attention of clubs from around the Premier League.

The winger is known for his determination and tenacity, both on and off the ball, and this makes him an attractive prospect for teams who like to press high.

However, Everton boss Frank Lampard is said to be a ‘huge fan’ of his winger and because of this a move for the player could prove to be tricky.

This is one of the reasons why a Chelsea transfer for Gordon didn’t materialise – but Spurs are reportedly set to test Everton’s resolve.

Tottenham paid £60m for former Everton player Richarlison in the summer and according to the report, it will take a similar fee to lure Gordon to North London.

With Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Son Heung-min struggling with injuries, Antonio Conte is said to be looking for new ‘creative’ talent.

It is likely that the Italian would use Gordon as someone who could deputise – or start instead of – anyone, in any position, across the Spurs front line.

Tottenham will be hoping that their injury worries in attack ease during the World Cup break as they look to enter the second-half of the season.
