LAFC keeper Maxime Crepeau breaks his LEG making a horror challenge on Cory Burke in the MLS final… with the Canada stopper shown a red card on the stretcher and will now MISS the World Cup in Qatar

LAFC goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau broke his leg in the MLS Cup final on Saturday making a late challenge to deny a goal in extra time.

The Canada goalkeeper made a brash challenge to take Cory Burke out on the edge of the area after the Philadelphia player raced onto an underhit back pass.

It was definitely a foul but Crepeau came off worse. Both players were hurt but Crepeau’s leg appeared broken as he rolled on the turf in agony.

After a lengthy stoppage, Crepeau was taken off the field on a stretcher and was given a red card for his challenge.

He put a thumbs up, appearing to signal that despite his injury he was not in too much distress.

Even so, broadcaster FOX decided not to show a replay of the incident.
